“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long…” — Exodus 20:12
In the days leading up to Mother’s Day, the Basilica will offer a nine-day novena of Masses to honor all mothers—living and deceased. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, children should offer their parents respect, gratitude, and obedience, supporting them with love both materially and spiritually.
During this novena, we will pray for all the women who have played a significant role in your life—mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, aunts, or teachers. Send their names to be included in prayer and placed in a basket before the altar.
If your mother is living, support and spend time with her. If she has passed, honor her memory with a Mass, prayer, and remembrance.

Creator of the universe and Provident God, we thank You for the blessing of mothers. May Your loving wisdom sustain them through life’s challenges, and may we cherish them always. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
