Plenary Jubilee Year 2025: A Call to Pilgrims of Hope
In a message filled with hope and gratitude, Most Rev. Daniel E. Flores, Bishop of Brownsville, has announced the celebration of the Plenary Jubilee Year 2025. Granted by the Holy Father, Pope Francis, the Jubilee Year will carry the theme “Church as Pilgrims of Hope” and span from December 29, 2024, to December 28, 2025.
This holy period offers the faithful a profound opportunity to grow spiritually and receive a Plenary Indulgence under the theme of faith, hope, and charity. Pilgrims are encouraged to visit any of the four designated churches in the Diocese of Brownsville:
- Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Brownsville
- Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle – National Shrine, San Juan
- Immaculate Conception Parish, Rio Grande City
- Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Raymondville
Conditions for Gaining the Plenary Indulgence:
- Pilgrimage: Visit a designated church and offer prayers, including the Creed, Our Father, Hail Marys, and Glory Be, for the Holy Father’s intentions.
- Mass Participation: Attend Holy Mass during or near the time of pilgrimage.
- Sacramental Confession: Complete Confession close to the time of pilgrimage.
- Holy Communion: Receive the Eucharist with a heart detached from all sin.
Additional provisions allow the faithful to extend this indulgence to souls in Purgatory or participate remotely due to physical limitations. Works of mercy, prayer, and community devotions are also encouraged throughout the Jubilee Year.
The faithful are invited to embrace this sacred time by deepening their commitment to God and their community. Let us journey together as Pilgrims of Hope, uniting in prayer and thanksgiving.
