My dear brothers and sisters,
Welcome to the Basilica
First, I would like to thank you for all that you do for the Basilica; what you do and what you give does not go unnoticed.
I have been amazed by the generosity of the people that venerate la Virgencita and honor the Basilica with their presence. Experiencing the devotion of the pilgrims has been a wonderful experience that strengthens my spirituality and increases my devotion to Our Blessed Mother.
We welcome you to join us for a magical evening at the district's first summer concert series at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle featuring two performances by Dr. Dahlia Guerra and Artistic Director of Pasion, Dr. Eric Posada.
For the first performance, presented by Dr. Dahlia Guerra, will feature Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, BWV 1050.2. Most likely written by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1721, our performance featuring Dr. Dahlia Guerra on piano, Lindsey K. Gamble on violin, Zynahia Banda on flute, Maria Fernanda Gonzalez on violin, Young Sin Choi on viola, and Patrick G. Hopkins on cello.
Followed by two-time The American Prize winner, and Texas Choral Directors Selected Choir Pasión presents the evening’s main performance, “World Without End”.
The concert will feature music from all over the world and will commence with British composer Herbert Howells’ “Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis” for organ and choir. The concert will continue with French composer Gabriel Fauré’s “Madrigal” and conclude with his “Requiem,” the most beloved in the world.
This portion will feature Pasión, Tom Hoehn (organ), the RGV Chamber Orchestra, Dr. Jessica Posada (soprano), and Joe Alvear (baritone).
