36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go yonder and pray.” 37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons from Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.” 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.” 40 And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, thy will be done.” 43 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then he came to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.” 46 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.”

El espíritu es animoso, pero la carne es débil.” 42 De nuevo se apartó por segunda vez a orar: “Padre, si esta copa no puede ser apartada de mí sin que yo la beba, que se haga tu voluntad.” 43 Volvió otra vez donde los discípulos y los encontró dormidos, pues se les cerraban los ojos de sueño. 44 Los dejó, pues, y fue de nuevo a orar por tercera vez repitiendo las mismas palabras. 45 Entonces volvió donde los discípulos y les dijo: “¡Ahora pueden dormir y descansar! Ha llegado la hora y el Hijo del Hombre es entregado en manos de pecadores.” 46 ¡Levántense, vamos! El traidor está a punto de llegar.”

Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me; what have you done?” 36 Jesus answered, “My kingship is not of this world; if my kingship were of this world, my servants would fight, that I might not be handed over to the Jews; but my kingship is not from the world.” 37 Pilante said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears my voice.” 38 Pilante said to him, “What is truth?” After he said this, he went out to the Jews again, and told them, “I find no crime in him. 39 But you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover; will you have me release for you the King of the Jews?” 40 They cried out again, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber. 19 Then Pilate took Jesus and scourged him. 2 And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and arrayed him in a purple robe; 3 they came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands. 4 Pilate went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing him out to you, that you may know that I find no crime in him.” 5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them. “Here is the man!”

Todo el que está del lado de la verdad escucha mi voz.” 38 Pilato dijo: “¿Y qué es la verdad?” Dicho esto, salió de nuevo donde estaban los judíos y les dijo: “Yo no encuentro ningún motivo para condenar a este hombre. 39 Pero aquí es costumbre que en la Pascua yo les devuelva a un prisionero. ¿Quieren ustedes que ponga en libertad al Rey de los Judíos?” 40 Ellos empezaron a gritar: “¡A ese no! Suelta a Barrabás.” Barrabás era un bandido. 19 Entonces Pilato tomó a Jesús y ordenó que fuera azotado. 2 Los soldados hicieron una corona con espinas y se la pusieron en la cabeza, le echaron sobre los hombros una capa de color rojo púrpura 3 y, acercándose a él, le decían: “¡Viva el rey de los judíos!” Y le golpeaban en la cara. 4 Pilato volvió a salir y les dijo: “Miren, se lo traigo de nuevo fuera; sepan que no encuentro ningún delito en él.” 5 Entonces salió Jesús fuera llevando la corona de espinos y el manto rojo. 20 Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the people to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. 21 The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.” 22 Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified.” 23 And he said, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified.” 24 So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this righteous man’s blood; see to it yourselves.” 25 And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” 26 Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, delivered him to be crucified. 27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the praetorium, and they gathered the whole battalion before him. 28 And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe upon him, 29 and plaiting a crown of thorns they put it on his head, and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 30 And they spat upon him, and took the reed and struck him on the head. 31 And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe, and put his own clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

Doblaban la rodilla ante Jesús y se burlaban de él, diciendo: “¡Viva el rey de los judíos!” 30 Le escupían en la cara y con la caña le golpeaban en la cabeza. 31 Cuando terminaron de burlarse de él, le quitaron la capa de soldado, le pusieron de nuevo sus ropas y lo llevaron a crucificar.

You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30 save yourself, and come down from the cross!” 31 So also the chief priests mocked him to one another with the scribes, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. 32 Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe,” Those who were crucified with him also reviled him.

This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.” 34 And Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no husband?” 35 And the angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. 36 And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.” 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; 49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. 50 And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with his arm, he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts, 52 he has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted those of low degree; 53 he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, 55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity for ever.” 56 And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her home.

His parents did not know it, 44 but supposing him to be in the company they went a day’s journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances; 45 and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; 47 and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.” 49 And he said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50 And they did not understand the saying which he spoke to them. 51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.

Tu padre y yo hemos estado muy angustiados mientras te buscábamos.” 49 Él les contestó: “¿Y por qué me buscaban? ¿No saben que yo debo estar donde mi Padre?” 50 Pero ellos no comprendieron esta respuesta. 51 Jesús entonces regresó con ellos, llegando a Nazaret.
